Welcome to the nucleus of the Leibniz-HKI
The nucleus - the canteen of the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology is located in the HKI Biotech Center. The nucleus is open to everyone, no matter if you are members of the institute, our colleagues on the Beutenberg Campus or friends from all over the world.
We would like to create a new community meeting place on the Beutenberg. At nucleus, not only can you enjoy a regional, seasonal, fresh and, of course, delicious lunch, but you can also discuss the next research collaboration in the afternoon over a cup of coffee and a piece of cake in an informal atmosphere.
In the interest of sustainability, and due to limited capacity, please pre-order your lunch. You can do so up to one week in advance and until 11 am on the day of your meal. For coffee, cakes, and snacks in the afternoon no advance order is necessary, and be ready for new options with a constantly changing menu. Just drop by!
Please note that you can only pay by card and we do not accept cash!

The nucleus is supported by the Gut essen. Gut leben. GmbH, which also runs other restaurants in Jena. The focus is on regional, seasonal, and contemporary cuisine, preferring regional products and suppliers.
Everything is freshly prepared. To be able to better plan and manage limited capacities, we ask for advance orders. This way you help us limit waste. You can change or cancel your order at any time up until 11 am on the day of the meal.
If you come by without pre-ordering, we cannot guarantee that there will be anything left. However, if you decide to visit us at short notice, you can see in the menu if dishes are already fully booked.
